Thanks for having me as part of the group. I'm looking forward to learning a lot more about print-making than I picked up in art school. Feel free to have a look at my blog: www.paintedbyandy.com

It was great, Ben's presentation was full of information about his processes and concepts and showed the results of how he pulled all those elements together to create fasinating pieces of art. A really inspiring man. And a great talker!

Thank you for the welcome to your website.

I have recently renewed my interest in more traditional printmaking (I mostly paint & make monoprints) and discovered Warringah Printmakers Studio while looking for solutions to non-toxic printing techniques. I googled "drypoint on plexiglas" to begin with, where I saw tutorials on that as well as found links for litho on foil at youtube. Seems artist's issues are the same whether in the US or Australia.

After seeing ways to print on aluminum foil I decided to give it a try. It looked so simple in the videos....... For some reason I just couldn't make it work for me. I think it is the printing process rather than with the etching that I ran into trouble. Also I used old etching ink not litho ink which may be a factor. Can different oil based inks work or do I need to have litho ink? I haven't made lithographs in a long time and have pretty much forgotten most of it.

This morning I am in the process of ordering a variety of new inks. I need some whether or not I try to do more litho.  I have lots of block printing ink but have used it mostly for the gelli prints and it is water based.

Does anyone else print on gelatin? It is so much fun and I have had great success with using that method.

I haven't explored the entire website yet but I am impressed with what I have seen so far.  I look forward to having other artists to talk to about printing and art in general.

hi. Well in terms of printmaking not much over the last 12 months. I hope to work on some wood and linocuts this year so hopefully joining up here will get me back into it!

Thank you for taking the time out to look at my work and your supportive comments.  I will get around to posting images up but Christmas is fast approaching so perhaps in the new year.  I work on aluminium, have worked on copper, but because of the size of my prints I find aluminium more affordable.  I use copper sulphate and salt in the etch bath along with soft and hard grounds.  Etching is my number one passion at present and I am working on a group of pictures inspired by my mother's poetry!  Any questions welcome.
